Leaving the Namib
Colonna Sonora: “Living in a box” Living in a box
It’s a dirt road, but it’s in good conditions most of the way. The first 150 km are through the flat Namib desert, then the road starts to climb on hills and mountains up to the Bosua Pass. Here the landscape gets green and leafy, and above 1700 m I saw the same funny trees I had found on the Kilimangiaro. When I arrived at Windhoek I was very tired. Maybe driving 360 km along a dirt road in one single day is too much. I didn’t spend much time in the capital, so I couldn’t figure out things very well, but the first impression was absolutely positive. The people here are frenetic and nervous, like the inhabitants of any bustling European city. This kind of living is very unusual to most of the people in this continent. I spent the night al Cardboard Box Backpackers. (S 22 33,762’ E 17 04,534’).
