Da Twyfelfontein mi sono diretto verso la Brandberg Mountain, la montagna piu' alta di tutta la Namibia. Questa zona come tutto il sud di questo paese, e' incredibilmente desolata. In 200 km non ho incontrato assolutamente nessuno. Solamente una quantita' innumerevole d'insetti e di serpenti. Gli insetti sono talmente grandi che quando attraversano la strada bisogna fermarsi per farli passare, mentre i serpenti ti spuntano davanti all'improvviso quando meno te lo aspetti ed ogni volta mi viene un mezzo infarto, anche perche' qui in Namibia ci sono i serpenti piu' velenosi del mondo, compreso il cobra sputatore.
Prima di arrivare alla montagna ho effettuato una deviazione verso Ugab Camp (S 21 00,053' E 14 46,897') per rifornirmi d'acqua, ma dopo aver percorso 40 km di sabbia profonda ho trovato il sito abbandonato quindi niente cibo e niente acqua.
Arrivato ai piedi della montagna ho finalmente trovato un po' d'acqua e poi ho cominciato la scalata fino alla caverna dove sono stati rinvenuti alcuni disegni su pietra risalenti a piu' di 6.000 ani fa. (S 21 06,642' E 14 39,756').

From Twyfelfontein I headed to the Brandberg Mountain, the highest peak in Numibia. This region, as well as the southern part of the country, is totally bare. I didn’t meet absolutely anybody for 200 km. Just lots and lots of insects and snakes. The insects are so big here that when you cross the road you better stop to let them pass. The snakes jump up suddenly, when you less expect to see them, and every time they give me a heart attack, because here in Namibia live the most poisonous snakes in the world, including the spitting cobra.
Before reaching the mountain I detoured to Ugab Camp (S 21 00,053' E 14 46,897') for water supply, but after 40 km of deep sand all that I found was an abandoned site: no water and no food.
At the foot of the mountain I finally found some water, then I started climbing up to a cave with rock paintings more than 6000 years old (S 21 06,642' E 14 39,756'). Uis Brandberg Rest Camp (S 21 13,149' E 14 52,067')
