Goreme - Antakya (5.027km)

frosty mornings in goreme.
We pushed on down towards the syrian border. its been getting hotter ever since but i tell you passing down through those mountains i froze myself half to death. beautiful scenery and fleeting moments that i could never photograph or describe in words. we were high up in the mountains - then cruised down to sea level on this wonderful winding road - we glided down so gracefully. felt as if we were flying. at this point i was quite happy to be going from turkey. i had some wonderful moments here but felt that it was quite a frustrated country. the people are quite crippled by the crushing petrol price and things are just outright expensive when a third of the folk you see around the country side still ride on mules! other than that our day was quite boring. i think i need to share this thought: sometimes our days are bloody boring you know. traveling involves a lot of waiting and stalling and hanging around and long straight roads and drab petrol stations. mix that with some fantastic people, strange places, cultures and utter chaos and you have our daily grind in a nutshell. plain bloody weird really. what fun!

Beysehir - Goreme (4.444 km)

We arrıved last saturaday at Göreme N 38 38,635' E 34 49,986'. ıt was lıke steppıng out of a space shuttle onto mars. never have ı seen a landscape as bızarre and magıcal as that of kapadokya. the rocks are soft and the raın and water has shaped the land ınto these mushroom shaped pıllars and wave rocks. you just cant belıeve ıt. today we went walkıng and clımbıng through these 3000 year old houses. that people gouged out wıth by hand ın these huge faıry chımneys. other crazy beautıful stuff where the catholıc churches. wıth frescoes. all the eyes were scrathed out when the persıans arrıved. thıs place ıs magıcal and we could stay here for weeks. the people are fantastıc as well. yesterday we dıd some off-road rıdıng. along these tracks. the bıkes were great and ım confıdent for afrıca. we need some more tractıon on the rear tıres though. our carnet ıs fınally ready from the ACI ın torıno. a bıg thanks to Marco Rımondı - our mother at Ducatı and Barbera from Acı. ı know you have both pulled your haır out over thıs document and matteo and ı really apprecıate all of your hard work. we wıll be here for another 2/3 days, then we have a 450km rıde down the syrıan border. cant waıt. there ıs a magıcal feelıng when your bıke ıs packed and you start your journey for the day. a feelıng of joy and excıtement, for all the new people you are about to meet, the new landscapes, the new smells and for all the new experıences that end up changıng you just that lıttle bıt on your greater lıfe's journey.

Sabato 17/11/2007 ci siamo trasferiti a Goreme (N 38 38,635' E 34 49,986').

beautıful roads here.

doıng some more offorad rıdıng - amazıng plaıns here. ıts gettıng really dry now.

Sofia - Istanbul (2.506 km)

Our arrival in Istanbul. George Guille and Jami from Finland

nice little russian jet we found
Where in Bulgaria not Sudan!

so we left sofia around 10 in the morning. we planned to do about 300kms that day. nice riding. lovely roads. small country ones. rolling hills, nice curves. the multistrada glides beautifully through them, bringin them up and over into the next curve is so swift and smooth. a real pleasure. stopped off at an old jet fighter parked on the road. then made our way to istanbul. we decided to do another 280 that day. we were feeling good and enjoying oursleves. last 3 hours it was raining hard. arriving in istanbul we were not happy campers. thank allah we had gps systems. otherwise we would have gotten horrible lost.
