Skeleton coast. Brrr!

Per andare a Walvis Bay (S 22 57,332' E 14 35,064') si puo' scendere lungo la costa oppure passare all'interno attraverso le dune del Namib. Io sono passato per il deserto. Si allunga un po', ma ne vale sicuramente la pena. Le dune di sabbia rossa modellate dal vento freddo che soffia dall'Atlantico s'intrecciano in curve morbide e sinuose creando dei disegni magnifici. Alcune di queste superano i 200 metri d'altezza. Questa volta guidare sulla sabbia e' stato piu' semplice del previsto. Mi sono insabbiato una volta soltanto. Poco prima di arrivare a Walvis Bay ho scalatao la duna 7 (S 22 57,332' E 14 35,064) che e' la piu' alta della zona. La discesa e' stata decisamente meno faticosa e piu' divertente dell'ascesa.

To get to Walvis Bay (S 22 57,332' E 14 35,064') you can ride down along the coast or cruise in the interior through the dunes of Namib. I chose the desert. The route is a little bit longer, but it’s really worth it. The dunes shaped by the wind blowing from the Atlantic Ocean entwine in gentle and smooth curves. Some dunes are more than 200 m high. This time driving on the sand was easier than I presumed. I got stuck in the sand only once. A few kilometers before Walvis Bay I climbed up dune 7 (S 22 57,332' E 14 35,064), which is the highest dune around. Driving downhill was less tiring and more fun than going up.
