Borgo Panigale - Rijeka (360 km)

Well here we go. Were off! was incredible to think that we managed to make all of this happen at all! so much work involved. 1 year of preparation - blood 'n tears and so many good times. as they say in the army (not that ive ever been), if the preparation does'nt kill you the mission won't.
well im still alive and were on the road. the weather in italy is terrible right now. we left turin for Mantova for our big send-off from our sponsors IES. we arrived in the pouring rain to find out that our waterproof gear wasn't so waterproof. we arrived there with video reporters filming us and stuff, we felt like ewan mcgregor and charlie boorman, only with better haircuts. after a fantastic lunch with the big bosses of IES , some interviews we then proceeded to try and dry ourselves off under the heaters. and a big thanks for the Salami and Cheese! were still eating it...

we then made our way down the bologna - borgo panigalle to the 'mothership' ducati factory. which if youve never been is a must for every ducatisti. they call it the willie wonker chocolate factory. and i tell you its just like that. willie wonkers everywhere in red clothing busy making beautiful racing machines. the next morning we said our goodbye's and thankyou's to all at the head office and officially started our Muti Afrika Trek!

A big thanks to Lucio Attina, Marco Rimondi, Andrea Gandiglio, Cristina Martinetti, Ies, Funaro, Ferrino, Filmaster, the homies at Kut comm and everyone else that has supported us so much in the running up to this adventure. we owe all of this to you.

Well we started out that day riding into the Bora. which is a very hard core wind that blows around north eastern italy - near venice. well it was in full force whilst we were riding up there. felt like somebody was constantly pulling the tarmac from underneath us. not such a nice feeling. especially at 100km/h. it was at this point that i realized that this trip was not going to be easy. riding a bike through africa is not a joke. and being constantly at the mercy of the elements is very tiring.

next stop - eastern europe!
